Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Friday!!!!!!!!!  And my boss has headed down to New Orleans for the UK/UL game... so its gonna be a nice quiet day around work... perfect conditions to FRAG!!!

*****

Gotta get a lottery ticket!!!!
Who is ready to win the Mega Million?

$540 MILLION DOLLARS??????

Ricky said, "What would we do with that if we won?"
My response?.... "ANYTHING we wanted!!!!"

May the odds be in our favor ...
(Hunger Games shout out... holla!)

*****

Yep - the tension around here is INSANE!  There was even a story, that made NATIONAL NEWS about 2 old men in a dialysis clinic that got in a fight over the UK/UL game.... literally unhooked themselves so they could swing on each other.  People take their basketball SERIOUSLY around here!

Today, the Mayor called for a 'Red-out' - everyone is supposed to wear red/black for UL support.  So all the UK fans are making sure to wear Blue.  Again, as I'm a jinx, I thought I'd just wear green... stay out of the mix.... but The Hubs told me to wear blue & white... just make sure it didnt have any UK logos.  But he wants more blue around then red... yep - Ricky will be that old man in the clinic one day....

*****

Tomorrow is the Papa John's 10 Mile Race... I wasnt sure I was going to do it... race fees are getting to me man... but my training calls for 10 miles anyways - so why not run it with 10,000 other people?

I'm going to do something new on this race... I saw it on another runner's blog... write down one person or thing & pray about it for each mile... make it a dedication run.  So like Mile 1 is dedicated to Ricky.  Mile 2 is for mom... mile 3 for my dad... so on...

When you focus on others, it takes your mind off of the pain.. so hoping it makes the 10 miles go fast... & if anything, it's going to cover 10 things in prayer...

*****

Question for you Keurig users... is there such a thing as "natural" drinks?  I got the Chai Tea... yummy.... but I read the ingredients & was like, "say what?"... all the junk in it... it makes me just want to make it on the stove top myself & know what I'm putting in it.  Same with the hot chocolate...

I did find some Apple Cider that is natural... but I'm kinda shocked of the 'ingredients' of some of the other cups...

*****

Two Words.... COLTON DIXON!!!!

Still loving this American Idol kid!!!!  Anyone that raises their hand in worship, singing a worship song... on American Idol?  & then has his grandpa WEEPING about it in the audience?  ... I'm sold out on this guy....

*****

SPAT OF THE WEEK:  Refrigerator Door...  So we got a new frig.  Still loving it.  But we're not used to double doors on the front.  One side though has a seal that comes out when you shut it ... so really that door needs to shut first.  If you open that side only,  you have to make sure you get it shut tight so that seal goes behind the other door.  Its just easier to open both of them up & make sure the left side shuts first....

Well... the past couple of days, the door has been open... its not getting shut.  Ricky is the culprit.  I've learned the trick of opening both doors & making sure the left is shut first.  Its happened about 4 times just this week.

So last night, I'm putting dinner on the table (Green peppers stuffed with vegan chili & brown rice... YUM!)... & I turn around & the door is open again.  I looked at him & said, "The door... again?  Really?" ....

To which he said, "Didnt you just get the cheese out of there?"

DANG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Its true... it was me... JUST THIS TIME!!!

But once you do something like that, now he's trying to blame me for all the other times.  Its like a case in a court of law.  Now he's 'got proof' that I do it... I have no proof at all that its ever been him that's left it open, so how could I possibly accuse him of leaving it open those other times...

I always said Ricky would make the best lawyer... but geez... it makes me want to punch him in the face a lot too....

*****

Laugh of the Day

I dont think its cool that someone threw flour on Kim Kardashian... not cool at all...

but I laugh everytime I see this...

You can put this running little girl on anything & it would make my day

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday!!!!

{Vegan} Cashew & Kinda-Chicken Salad

Wanted to share this recipe because it was da'bomb'diggity!!!!

What you need:

Mixed spring greens
Pkg Chick'n patties (Its a soy product - not real chicken... but VERY yummy!)
3 oz crumbled feta cheese (Or a shredded Vegan Cheese)
Cashews - 8 oz
16 oz sliced strawberries
Balsamic Vinegar dressing

Easy enough...

I made the 'chicken' in the oven & baked some fresh wheat bread.

Then putting it on top of the greens & putting everything else on top... easy enough...

I just used as many cashews as I wanted... 8 oz?  I can eat that on my salad alone.
Same with the strawberries...

that's the fun of a salad... put how much you want on it...

The Balsamic was excellent with the strawberries.

Ricky & I were both STUFFED too at the end of this salad.

Will be making this one again...

& you can make it not vegan... real chicken, real cheese...

But I would never have thought the combo of the ingredients would work together... but oh my... the sure enough do...

PS .... & still waiting for my juicer to come in.... its marked to be delivered by Wednesday. Shoot... I already went out & bought all kinds of veggies too... carrots, cucumbers, celery... wonder if it'll last a week?

Hodgepodge

Click on the button above if you want to join in with us awesome Hodepodgy Peeps

1.  What's the last job you did that required elbow grease?

Cleaning the floor around the edge, under the cabinets.  The floor has 'grooves' in it & a mop doesnt get in there & the dirt will build up.  So I have to get on my hands & knees with Clorax Wipes & I have to dig in those grooves... Its hard to do too when you have four dogs trying to lay down on you.  They love when someone gets down on their level.

2.  March Madness, aka the men's Division I basketball championship, is nearing an end...what sort of 'madness' has your house seen this month?

The original madness - the March Madness!  You've heard me complain about UK & UL arguments with Ricky & other fans... & now, BOTH teams face off in the Final Four?  Every day, Ricky has to talk to me about it... though I'm not allowed to talk back, in case I may jinx the team with even my words.  I'm planning on keeping 911 on my cell phone (upstairs, FAR away from a TV) in case of heart attack symptoms.

Our town is threatening everyone too... no riots... because no matter what, someone's gotta loose... & its NOT gonna be pretty.

3. What's your favorite shop for browsing?

Target Baby... always Target... I can go in there & look for the longest time... & then go back & do it all over again...

4. Is there ever a time when giving up makes sense?

Yes... it makes sense when it just get too tough... KIDDING!

Of course there's a time... I'm gonna go all deep & Biblical on you & throw Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 at you... there's a time for everything...

Time for Everything
3 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.

5. What's a song you love that contains the name of a city, state or country in its title?

First thing I think of is "Sweet Home Alabama"... & then, of course, "my Old Kentucky Home" (You cant live around Churchill Downs & not love that song) -  but then I thought, what else is out there?  Hello Mr. Google...

& 2 fun ones came up that I had to give a thumbs up to:

Tell me how GROOVY ABBA is! :)  You cant sit still when ABBA is playing - you gotta put on some funky clothes & just sway to the music.  (Where IS Waterloo?)

& then another

Do you know, there is a FULL song with this?  HAHA!  Dont say you dont leave my blog knowing more then when you came here!

6. When did you first begin using a computer?

You know that saying, "I'm older then the internet"?... yep - that's me.  I can honestly remember when Ricky & I bought a computer in Circuit City about 18 yrs ago & was like, "Is this internet thing going to really stick around or is it like a BETA player?"

that's a true story!

But I can remember having a RADIO SHACK computer when I was little.  It hooked into the TV!  & to do anything, you had to type in DAYS worth of a code & if one thing was wrong... a period, or a comma in the wrong place, you'd get <<>> at the end...

Thank God computers have come a long way.

7. Did you buy girl scout cookies this year? What's your favorite?

I did good... I only bought 3 boxes.  Ricky devoured 2 of them in one day... the other box?  Thin Mints... & they're still in the freezer.  I have like 2 cookies a week.  Ricky hates them cold.  SCORE 1 FOR ME!!!!

my favorite?  I used to be a Samoa girl... but I think I may have changed to a Tagalong gal... mmmm.... so glad its only once a year.  I've got enough other temptations in life.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Kroger is getting on my bad list.... I made the most A-MAZ-ING salad last night (pictures to come) & it called for Feta cheese.  I just bought some at the grocery on Saturday.  I went to open it last night... it expired Feb 1, 2012!!!! DANG IT!!!!!  I just bought it!  .... & Ricky did the same thing.  Stopped by & got some cocktail sauce & got home, opened it & it STUNK!... it had gone bad in 2011!!!!!

I know you're supposed to look, but come on Kroger... you need to check the shelves too!

Hope in change...

I keep a daily "Gratitude Journal" - have for years...

its where I write down at least 5 things I'm thankful for that happened in the day.

Somedays, the list can go MUCH longer, some days its really rough to come up with 5

... those are the days I need to do it the most....

But last night, I wrote down "Thankful for HOPE!"

What am I hopeful for?

I'm actually putting hope in something strange...

... & Amazon will be bringing me this hope...

(Doesnt Amazon deliver everything else?)
Meet my new juicer!!!!

Ricky bought this for me this weekend & now I'm just waiting for it to show up at my door.

I keep reading information - keep watching documentaries - everything showing proof & evidence of nutrition making a difference in a body.

Here's a great documentary on a guy that changed his life by juicing...

Source: amazon.com via Rebecca on Pinterest

I see where people who have cancer do nothing but juice & eat plant based foods & they are cancer free now... didnt even do the chemo & radiations...

I just want to get rid of neuropathy...

Neuropathy is "damage of the nerves" ... & you would think good nutrition, vitamins & the 'good stuff' in  your system has gotta help, right?  Its just GOTTA!

I figure it cant hurt anyways...

Like Ricky said, even if it helps me 10%, its 10% better then nothing...

So anyone else ever juice?
Any great recipes?
Anyone ever do a juice fast?  I keep reading all the different plans... there's a 1 day fast, a 3 day fast, even a 8 day fast... & they say that you're not hungry - you're still getting in more food then you would probably EAT - its just juice...

I'll be heading to Sam's Club this weekend to load up on fresh veggies & fruits... & I'm excited about it...

Say a prayer if you dont mind, that this will heal up these nerves of mine...

I'll keep updates on here as well on the drinks I make...  & how its working for me.

& if you've never seen this documentary, check it out... its pretty amazing

Weekend Roundup

* Friday, out of no where, we're sitting at the end of the work day & hear tornado sirens. WHAT?  It had been raining & storming all day, but the sun was out & we heard sirens & then the radios go off.  Yep ... we were under a tornado warning... & a tornado did actually hit a little bit away.  This has been a rough start to Spring!

* UK played the late game on Friday... as you all know by now, I'm a "UK Jinx"  I just made life easy for Ricky & I went to bed at 10:00... no blame on my shoulders

* I SLEPT IN!!!!! I havent been able to sleep in past 6:00 am the past 3 weeks - including weekends... so I was a little excited to wake up on Saturday with sunlight in my room.  That's sad that I wake up 99% of the time before the sun....

* I was even more excited that Ricky didnt wake me up to tell me UK had won...

* HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We went Saturday afternoon.  I loved it.  Always disappointed how they have to cut so much of a book out of a movie, but know it was still over 2.5 hours.  And where they had to 'speed up' the action so you couldnt really tell what was going on, game me a little motion sickness.  But I know they had to do that to keep the PG-13 rating.  It was still graphic enough though.
..... I was excited to see the "clothing of flames" come to life in the movie - great job!
..... I love Haymitch & Woody Harrelson did a FANTASTIC job!
..... Cinna... who knew Lenny Kravitz would make that character even more loveable!
 ..... Effie?  Fashion icon
..... I really thought Jennifer Lawrence did a great job at Katniss
..... they made me hate President Snow even more then I did in the book
..... & yes, I totally cried in the "Rue" scene... heartbreaking. Even knowing it was coming!
..... I CANT WAIT for the next book to come to life now!

We were sitting down the aisle from a man who was there alone... he was CRACKING me UP!  He kept talking to the screen, like they could hear what he was telling them.  And he'd laugh these HUGE laughs at the weirdest places.  It was kinda distracting, but it made me giggle... I thought Ricky was going to pull his hair out though.

* Went to the health food store & finally got some Chia seeds... found a good make-the-night-before Green Monster Oatmeal dish that I'm gonna try this week.

* Made a cold coffee drink.... mmmmm..... my Keurig is turning me into a coffee drinker!

* Speaking of drinking - its been, as of this morning, 5 days since I've had a Diet Coke... not even one sip!  I watched a documentary last week, "Hungry for Change" - from the same people who made "Food Matters".... they said stuff that made it click for me & I was like "I'm done... no more"... Ricky said, "I've told you those same things for years"... I told him it has to be the right message at the right time that just clicks to me.  Same with the meat eating... I really think that's it... I'm done.
(if you get a chance to watch it, its excellent)

* Ricky ordered me a juicer!!!!!!  I've got a Breville coming in the mail this week!  Cant wait!

* Got to run 7.65 miles on Sunday... but I took a new road & BOY O BOY!  It started on an incline, but I thought, when I get to the top, it'll flatten out.  Nope - another dip & another hill... OK - its gotta flatten out on the next hill... NOPE... ANOTHER dip & hill... the next HAS to flatten out?  NO WAY!!! ..... I did 5 huge hills & at the top of the 5th, it was yet another huge dip, I said, forget it & turned around... which meant I had 5 hills to do again.  So that 7.65 miles? Felt more like 15 miles... WHEW!!!!

* My feet did good on this run... only got painful the last half miles... I still hate neuropathy

* Didnt get home until late on Sunday with the Senior High Small Group... mercy, I love the honesty & thoughts of these kids... gets me thinking & teaches me every time.

...now, on to start a new week.

Praying the neuropathy continues to ease up a little... or not have a 'really bad day' - which happens like every 4th day...

Praying people around our area stay sane with UK vs UL in the Final Four this week.. trash talk has already ensued to crazy standards

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend & a great week lies ahead...

Friday Fragments ... the music edition?

Mommy's Idea

Friday... its yucky & rainy... but still Friday...

*****

Its HERE!!

HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be going on Saturday...

Its funny because the movie times are like every half hour...

Ricky said he doesnt think there's a good time for us... oh, that joker...

*****
So I never really got into American Idol since Bo Bice lost to that one-hit wonder Carrie Underwood!  I know, I know... Carrie is amazing... but I was a Bo Bice fan & after he lost, I gave up on the show. And then it forced him to turn to country music!!! WHAT?  Bo Bice in country music?  See what loosing will drive you to?

Didnt even watch with the Adam Lambert craze - but when Steven Tyler was back on the show, I started watching again last  year.  To only have a country kid win it?  Egads!  Anyhoo... I have another favorite this year.

COLTON DIXON!!!!

I remember when he auditioned last year because he sang a Christian song.  So when he made it through this year, while wearing a shirt with a Cross on the back, I was so excited!

And if you follow him in Facebook, you'll see that he puts a status up everyday about God.  Plus, he totally gave God the glory on the show Wednesday (GO COLTON!) ...

I just read an article calling him the "Tim Tebow of American Idol"

I did hear on the radio that 'reports' are swarming that they have asked him to 'tone down his Christianity'... to which he said, "Um... I dont think so"

And if you notice, there are signs in the background that say "Messenger" with the scripture John 13:16 "I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater then the one who sent him" ...

Dont know how far he'll get, but if he looses, I'll pout again for another year... first no Clay Aiken, then no Bo Bice.. c'mon Colton - bring home a win!

******
Speaking of singing shows - anyone love Jordis Unga on "The Voice"?
Anyone recognize her?
She was on "Rock Star: INXS" a few years ago... with dreads...

If you get a chance, look up her videos on You Tube... she's quite the ROCKER!

******
And speaking of ROCKERS!
Guess who's coming to Cincinnati?

KISS!!!!!  With Motley Crue!

We really want to go see this concert.

But they have a "gold pass" where you get a meet & greet with KISS, in the front 10 rows, all kinds of goodies... guess how much for this ticket?
$1250!!!
For ONE ticket!!!
SHUT UP!
But I know KISS fans - they'll sell out of them.

And the week before the KISS concert?
Journey, Pat Benetar & Loverboy is here in town!!!!

Tickets for that are MUCH more reasonable...
I think we'll be seeing that one.
I'm a HUGE Journey fan...
& who doesnt love a Rocker Chic?
I want to see Pat Benetar rock out!

...

I'd rather see Steven Curtis Chapman over all of the above...
& I'd probably try & raise $1250 for a similar SCC package :)
******

Enough talk about music... let's get to the SPAT OF THE WEEK!!!

.... Drinking Glasses....

I noticed that my cabinet has been getting bare in the glass department.
Lately, we've been only drinking water & tea so the glasses are being used frequently & washed alot... but when there are none to wash, I knew something was up.

So I venture downstairs.  Now, know that downstairs is Ricky's man-cave.  I only venture down there to the laundry room & to the back room where my treadmill, spinner & eliptical is at... I shield my eyes from everything else down there because it'll lead to another spat of "Pick that up"... "Dust that"... "What IS that?"

But I went on a glass hunt...
Ventured into the depths of the cave, as scary as it can be.
Into the area in front of the big screen TV with the x-box...
an area that is seldom ventured into by female presence.
I tiptoe around the recliner...
& what do I find?
About 10 glasses!!!!!!!!!!!!
TEN!!!!!!
I asked Ricky why he cant bring them up when he's finished - or at the end of the night?
Guess what his answer was.... "I forget"

I blame the man cave... it sucks all brain cells....

Words Matter....

When I was growing up, everytime, I mean EVERY.TIME. that I saw my grandmother, she would have me come over to her & she would say, "Show me your jewelry"

I mean, as a little child, all the way to a grown, married woman...

but she always told me that as a girl, I was supposed to wear jewelry so I had to always have on at least one thing.  Show her earrings, or a necklace, or a ring or bracelet.

It was embedded in me.... & I loved to show it off to her.

(& it was always a great excuse for her to buy me pieces of jewelry)

To this day, when I put on my jewelry, I think of Teenie.  I always said I would even do the same thing to my grandchildren... but having only grandSONS so far, its not working :)

But arent there things you remember from your grandparents, or parents, that you always remember them saying that you pass down?

Words from your past seem to stick around...

the voices, the way they said things, the things you learned, the things you laughed about...

I remember things my friend Stephanie would say
.. to this day, whenever Ricky & I hear "that's cute", we have to instantly say, "She thinks its CUUUTTTEEEEE" - Stephanie used to LOVE Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer & the part where the girl reindeer called him cute & Rudolph would say, "She thinks I'm CUUTTTTEEE" ....

its small things that stick with you, as well as the big things...

remembering advice, thoughts, phrases of people that's been in your life... we all have those memories...

& they stick with us... they have taught us...  they have guided us

... some of those words from the past even shape who we are in some ways.

& then in church Sunday, we came across the passage from Matthew:

Heaven & earth will disappear,
but my words will never disappear
-Matthew 24:35 (NLT)

God's words are still around... in our minds... in our hearts...

its what guides us, teaches us, shows us examples...

& they stick with us because they're important
... they mean something
... they matter.

So today I pray that as we think of people in our lives & the words they said that meant so much, that are tucked inside of us, may God's words dig deeper everyday, sticking with us, guiding us

... ALWAYS

Hodgepodge... with a gross story...

1. The first day of spring is here-do you enjoy working in the yard? Weeding, raking, mowing, planting...your favorite springtime garden chore? How about your least favorite?

I LOATHE yard work... first of all, when I touch grass or anything "green", I break out in a rash.  I try to pull weeds & have red streaks up my arms.  Ricky wont let me touch the riding lawn mower - he's convinced I'll go 4-wheeling on it or something & tump it on my head.  But the push mower?  I'm convinced that's what caused my bicep tendonitis last year.  I NEVER cut the grass, but last year, Ricky was sick so I tried to be the good wife & cut part of our grass... we are on hills & I was struggling with this mower, pulling  & pushing & trying not to let it drag me down the hill... it was the day after that I noticed the arm pain.  The combo of the hills & the mower & gravity?  Yep - has now caused me MONTHS of pain & a future surgery.

.. give me astro turf anyday!

2. What puts a spring in your step?

A pogo stick!  Of course... is this a trick question? ... no, really, I've never been on a pogo stick.  I'd kill myself...

Something that puts a spring in my step? Good, dancing, solid beat music :)  I can be on my run & feel like I have concrete on my legs, but put a good upbeat song & its like I have wings... music truly moves me...

3. Describe a time when you had to spring into action.

Ready for a gross story? ... REALLY gross story? .... dont say I didnt warn you!

We just had Zoe neutered.  She's such a little spastic dog & we knew she would want to run with the other 3 dogs, so we ended up putting her in a kennel when we went back to work.  This was like 2 days after her sugery, mind you.

I come home, knowing she probably had to pee, so I run back to the kennel, open it up & just immediately run the other direction to get her to follow me to the door.  We run outside & I notice something dragging behind her.  WHAT.IS.THAT?  ... oh, it was only her intestines!!! HER INTESTINES PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I picked her up & held her upside down so her guts wouldnt fall out... literally & truly!  Talk about springing into action.  I grab my keys & had her at the vets office in 5 minutes - which is crazy because our vet is like 15 minutes away.

of course, I had a white shirt on that day.  She was throwing up in the car & I thought she wasnt going to make it... but I zoomed in - with blood all over my shirt, holding her upside down to keep everything "IN" her guts & just SCREAMED as I walked in the door.

Man oh man - they were on the ball... they rushed & got her & it was within 2 minutes they said she was already in surgery.

She had sat in her kennel all day & pulled at the stitches until she ripped open her stomach.  No joke... did you even know that was possible?

They said that when I brought her in, her intestines still had color she that was good. If they were white, then all blood flow was gone & she wouldnt have made it.  I just think, if there was traffic & I was 5 minutes late, she would have died.

They kept her for a few days... but I went home & saw her kennel.  I didnt even notice it at first when I just wanted her to go outside to pee - but it was like a slaughter house.  BLOOD EVERYWHERE... & where I ran & had her follow me?  A trail of blood from her intestines dragging behind her.

IS THAT INSANE????  But it happened.. & I'll never forget it.. & I still cant believe how quickly I reacted.

But in the end, this gross, horrible story has a happy ending... Zoe today is still a happy 7 yr old ....with all her internal organs still intact.

Zoe - the amazing 'eat through your skin' dog

4. We're having carrots for dinner...would you prefer yours raw or cooked?

.. who can talk about carrots after my other story... my appettite is gone...

5. Do you take the shampoos and other sundries from your hotel room when its time to check out?

Not really... with long hair on BOTH of us, those little bottles dont do a thing for us.  If we could have like 10?  Then maybe...

The only ones I've ever taken are from Disney Hotels... slap Mickey's face on anything & I'll take it.

6.  What's the most enjoyable team or club you've belonged to and what was it that made it so?

Its crazy... I cant really think of any team or club I've been on... I wasnt very athletic, I didnt go to college...

so I'll go with the Romper Room Club... remember that TV show?  Where you'd sit & wait for the lady to say your name because she saw you in the Magic Mirror?

7. Is cloning a sign of progress?

Its only a sign of progress if we can clone my socks... because I keep loosing one... & to have another matching one?  That would be AMAZING... Progress in its finest!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Thank God for thirsty tow truck guys! :)

Yesterday, I drove Ricky's car to get fixed... & driving it home, it broke down.  Was only about 3 miles from the garage that fixed it. BOO!  But I called AAA & they said it would be 2 hours before anyone could get there.  It was 86 degrees, hot & I was in a bad neighborhood.  But I had my Kindle... so I was like "bring it on bad luck"... I can read through the waiting.  But as I pull out my Kindle, a tow truck pulls up.  I asked him who he was, because 2 minutes is NOT 2 hours... He said, "I heard the call put on the list & I stopped to get something to drink & look up & you're right across the street from me - so I told them I'll go ahead & do this run first"... YES!

I told him that I know he's had a hard day in the sun, but I was thankful he was thirsty.
he told me "you're welcome"

Jillian...

So I totally forgot I didnt post the pics of our new frig...

I love that I did get some great name ideas...

Even from my dad, who is such a Cowboy.  He told me to name it Silver, so when we had it for a few years, we could call her Ole Silver ... some sort of Lone Ranger code there.

I think I'm going with the name Jillian though...

In honor of the demon-lady from Biggest Loser.  After all, I want healthy stuff inside of it, & I know how ice-cold her attitude was... so I think its appropriate... & a pretty name to boot.

I'm still up for any ideas...

But here I am... I had to get up at 6:00 am to clean out the fridge.  (Why am I only getting my picture taken before the sun rises, when I have no make up on?)

They were delivering it at 7 am.  Who does that?  Usually they make you wait all day & make you a prisoner in your home... Kudos to Home Depot for saying they would be there at 7... & actually being there at 7!

It was no time & they had our old girl out the door & gone.  That made me have to rush & clean up the floor & behind the frig.  WOW... you dont realize how much gets back there, do you?  It was actually better then we thought it would be.

They kept telling us on the phone "Make sure all pets are put away"... well, we did good - all 4 of our doggies were outside.  But they had to leave our door open so they could take the old out & bring the new in... well, in this area, you leave the door open & a dog will come in.  This is our neighbors dog :)  He's HUGE!!!! But like a teddy bear.  He kept wanting the frig guys to love on him so I just sat down & had to hug him & pet him while they did all the work.

(I actually had bones in my hand making him stay there so I could use the excuse, "I just need to hold him so he doesnt get in the way".... no!! joking... I wouldnt do that... would I?)

And here's Jillian in all her glory... silvery & shiny... with a huge freezer!!  I'm so excited about it!!! Isnt she a beauty?

And here's our first pitcher of water.... we were so proud.  Ricky & I neither have had an water dispenser on our fridge before.  And remember my story where Ricky woke me up at 6:30 the next morning to show me the ice?  Yep - we were WAY too excited about our new purchase.

Isnt it always fun getting a new toy in the kitchen?

Next stop?  New dishwasher!!!

Weekend Roundup

* Race Packet Pick up day... you dont normally get swag for this race, but this year, they had it.  Some of the stuff is cool to try & sample out, but they gave out squeeze packets of peanut butter.  Something about "squeezing" out peanut butter just makes it not appetizing at all.

* Got me some new ear buds for race day... got these in black because my white ones?  Yeah - not so white anymore after all the runs of sweat... ewww....

* Race morning - the temp was 60 degrees at 6:00 am... BIG difference from last year with wanting to wear an Eskimo Parka... today was all about shorts & tech shirts to keep the sweat off.

* I had no green tech shirt ... only neon yellow... so just said forget about it & went with pink.

* Here's the picture of me before leaving for the race...

* Highlights of the race:
  • I love this course but hate the starting line & finish line are apart from each other.  Luckily, Ricky had to work this day & the finish line was 1 block from his work - so I parked at his work & he drove me to the start line.  I try to be as lazy as possible before a run :)
  • I saw that older lady in the tutu again.. she was sporting a green one for St. Patrick's Day... & again, she zoomed right by me :)
  • Mile 2.5 - My stomach started cramping... I thought the Runner's GI curse was going to hit me... but it went away. WHEW!  That was scary.
  • Worse part of this race?  We have to run by a meat/butcher store... the smell makes me literally gag every time
  • A guy dressed up like a lephracaun was throwing gold coins in chocolate at us as we ran... I didnt know what he was throwing at first & he scared me & made me jump like he was throwing knives at me.... Wasnt there a movie about killer lephracaun's?  I must have watched that one too many times.
  • My neurpathy in my feet did OK... I did have one stretch where my middle toes were painful, but it didnt last long.  The pain?  In my fingertips.  The neuropathy was making my fingertips BUZZ so badly after the race... it was awful.  Never know what I'll get with this neuropathy stuff.
  • My time was 1 minute 56 seconds slower then last year... I was so bummed again.  But I found a friend that reminded me that when we first started running, our goal was to finish.  And now, we get so upset over seconds or minutes... he reminded me that I need to remember how blessed I am I could finish AT ALL... amen my friend.
  • & then I saw that I was still 5 minutes faster then the first year I did it... so at least I'm not all the way as slow as I was.

* It was such a beautiful day, that for the rest of Saturday, I ended up sitting on my back porch with my Kindle & finished my book "Breathless" ...

* Sunday was another beautiful day & I got to sit outside & start a new book & then ended up taking a walk with some friends...

* all this time outside?  My runners tan has officially started... white feet, tan legs up to my mid thigh, & then all white again.  ....Its a hot look... especially the white feet :)

* As a 40 yr old, dont try & play dodge ball with a bunch of teenagers.  I got SLAUGHTERED.  And why did they feel the need to keep throwing the balls at my face?  Geez!  Vicious!!!

* Made another batch of "Energy Bites".... Ricky was all pouty faced when I left to go walking & then to church & said with the most pitiful voice, "You didnt make the 'bites'" (that's what he calls them)... I told him I promised I would when I got home from youth.  He just walked out with the shoulders down, "No you wont... you never get home till late" ............ so I made a decision, as soon as the message was over at the youth group, I headed home - about an hour earlier then I normally do... & I got those babies made!!! ......... only to take one downstairs to Ricky nice & hot, like he likes them... & he's snoring, sound asleep in his recliner.

Hope you all had a great weekend... & now onward to a wonderful week!

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Friday... of the LONGEST week EVER!!!!  I agree with someone who said they think its the Daylight Savings that has messed me up... but know this - I AM MESSED UP!

******

March Madness has begun...
Know how many brackets I filled out? ... zero
Know how many teams I know anything about? .... zippo
Know how much I care about basketball season? .... zilch

The only thing I know is when UK plays, I steer clear of the Hubs... all I need to know.

******

One more week!!! ONE MORE WEEK!!! The Hunger Games!!!! I think I'm more excited about this then any of the Twilight movies.  That's saying something... as embarssing as that is to admit.

I tell everyone that Ricky would rather have needles poked in his eyes then read a book, so he knows nothing about this except for me gasping at every commercial & telling him we're going next weekend to the movies.  His reaction?  "Most books make horrible movies" ...

No... I correct him - they make bad movies off of fantastic books... an extra incentive to read!  But by the previews, this looks fantastic!  Not like the $5,000 budget they had for Twilight on the first movie.  I'm ready to see how they bring it all to live... & still keep a PG-13 rating!

*****

Race day tomorrow!!! This will be the 3rd year I'm doing this 10k.  Its probably one of my favorite courses. But they've already sent out an email reminding everyone that the temperature for race time will be in the 60's so to stay hydrated.  Usually, the temps for this race is around freezing... BIG DIFFERENCE!!!  So no worries on what to wear for the race tomorrow.  No leggings, gloves, hats... It'll be minimum gear.  Shorts & a sleeveless tech tank.... & a water bottle...

*****

So I feel bad for the guy that got kicked off American Idol.  Yeah, he shoulda been honest, but did you hear his voice quiver when he said, "I didnt want you to judge me on my past"?  ... that broke my heart...

More room for Colton to zoom to the top now though :)  ...Or as Ricky calls him, "Skunk boy"... & that's not a put-down.  Ricky likes the guy.  Its just for his style of hair.  You cant put a blond streak down the middle of your hair & not get called a skunk by someone.

*****

Anyone else so happy "The Bachelor" is finished? ... NO.MORE.COURTNEY. EVER.... PLEASE!!!!!

But now?  OH YEAH BABY!!!!
Dancing with the Stars!!!!!

Before even seeing the first dance - I'm rooting for Urkel (You know no know will ever call him by his real name) & Sherri Shepherd!!!!  Though I think the Football player & the Disney Kid will do well.

Time to break out my fringe pants....

*****

SPAT OF THE WEEK:  Make up your mind!!! ... so this neuropathy thing is wearing on me.  On my patience, on my nerves, on my whole body.  I will say, I have quite a few pity parties lately with it.  So Saturday, I get up & am whining about my feet burning & tingling & how it hurts to even stand, much less walk.  Ricky gave me a "pep-talk" (code for "lecture") on being strong & pushing myself & how things could always be worse.  By the end of the day, I was just angry about the neurpathy & I handle my anger by running.  I ended up running 6.20 miles & got home... only to have Ricky give me a "talking to" (code for "lecture") about how I'm probably hurting myself, its not smart, & I need to take it easy... HUH?  Make up your mind dude.  You want me to sit around off my feet, or up & around pushing myself?  ... men... when I reminded him that he just told me 2 different things, his response?  "Just listen to me" ... my husband... the man with all the answers :)

*****

... for the record... with all this talk of "Pink Slime" on the news, I'm so thankful I havent eaten meat in over a year...

...gag...

*****

Hope you all have a FANTASTICLY FABULOUS FRIDAY!!!!

Impulsive decisions....

I was cleaning out a part of my closet that holds brooms, Sweepers, electric vacuums (How many things can one person have to clean a floor?)... & I ran across this little gadget that I bought one time at a Flea Market.

Ricky will never let me live this thing down either...

what is it?

Its a big sticky roller... you're supposed to use it on your floors, your furniture, your walls, anything you can roll it on... & it picks up dust, dirt, hair.  Then you just rinse it under water to clean it & its ready to use all over again.

Its magicial...

or so I thought when the sales person called me over for a demonstration.

I'm such a sucker for demonstrations.

If you ever have one, I'm the person you want to grab because I'll go "Ohhhhh" & gasp at the right spots & even clap with glee at the end results...

only to buy the product & find out it doesnt do a darn thing in my hands.

So yeah, now we have a stupid roller that never even picked up two specks of dust.  And that rinsing off thing?  I put it under water & it washed off all the "stickiness".

I'm such a on-the-spot-make-quick-decisions-kinda-gal... & for the most part, it results in stupid choices.  Choices that leave me with worthless things - decisions that leave me saying, "why did I do that?" - stupidity at its finest.

And its not even about a sticky roller... it can be clothes... it can be electronics... it can be about a shelf of vitamins that I knew would make me feel healthier...

....it can be decisions on relationships... it can be arguments over small petty things that seem important in that flash of a second.

We make stupid, quick decisions in this life, dont we?

I thought of that when I was reading the story of Esau gave up his birthright for bread & stew...

WHAT?  You read the story & you think, "DUDE!!! You're giving up your birth right for food?  Are you an idiot?"

.... & then I see a sticky roller in the corner...

& I think of all the stupid decisions where someone has stood behind me & said, "Are you an idiot?"

Impulsiveness becomes such a downfall, doesnt it?

I can imagine God sitting back watching us as we make decisions based on impulse.

He wants us to resist the urge to make hasty decisions.  Instead, he wants us to weigh the outcome.  Rehearse the consequences.  Play out the long term scenario of our actions.

Because every decision we make has a lifelong implication

So today, in all your decisions - take a breath - step back & think about it.

And remember that there's always time to talk to God about it.  He's not going anywhere.  He's willing to listen...

& with His help, we'll end up making the right decision...

Hodgepodge

Wednesday...

Wait... its ONLY Wednesday?????  This has been the slowest week so far... ugh!  Maybe doing a little Hodgepodge will speed it along.

1. St. Patrick's Day will be celebrated this coming Saturday. What's a favorite article of clothing you own that contains a touch o' the green?

I love green... I think it goes well with my red hair, so I actually own a lot of green.  Shirts, sweaters, scarves... even have a mint green skirt that I love.  But for this year's St. Patrick's Day, it falls on the same day as a 10K that I'm running - so I'm trying to find what kinda green tech-wear I have.  I do have some light green running shorts... but it is a possibility of rain.  Light green & rain?  Might as well be running in my underwear... I just need to make sure those are green too.

2. What's a favorite 'green space' in the town, state or province where you live?

I get a pass on this question because hello!?!?!  I live in GREENVILLE, Indiana!  My whole town is my favorite place :)

3.  Do you wish you were taller, shorter, or think you're just about right in the height department?

I was always one of the taller girls in my class during elementary school & middle school & I always enjoyed it.  Being in the back line of picture day?  Good times of being able to goof off because no one can see what you're doing back there.  Now, as an adult, I'm 5'8 - is that average?  I have no problems with my height... now if we're talking width, that's another topic :)

4. What's the surest way for someone to pick a fight with you?

Just find me on any PMS day & any topic will suffice for a fight

... or have the name of "Ricky" & leave your socks on the counter top

... one or the other.

5.  Broccoli-spinach-string beans-peas...of the four your favorite green veg? (Or the one you dislike the least if that first option is too hard for you. I know there are some veggie haters out there).

Broccoli... with tons of cheese on it
Spinach ... covered with hot dressing
String beans... covered with salt
Peas .... never

So in the end, I only like veggies if you douse them with anything unhealthy.

6.  March is National Women's History Month...besides friends, neighbors, and the women you're related to, who's a woman in history you admire and why?

Mother Teresa... the things she sacrificed to help others.  She was truly the hands & feet of God on this earth.  And some of the things she would say?  I love to google "Mother Teresa quotes" & every one of them is something powerful & insightful.  To leave the world with a legacy like that... to leave the world changed for the better because of what you've done.  That's amazing....

"We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair & hopelessness is love.  There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread, but there are many more dying for a little love"

7. Keep calm and ___________on.

You fill in the blank.

I have two actually

Keep calm and RUN on
Keep calm & KNIT on

Both calm me.

... maybe I can run and knit at the same time... find a new level of zen.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

82 degrees today... trees & flowers starting to bud ....welcome allergy season!!!!

I've drank the Kool-Aid...

...or the Hot Chocolate, in this case.

During Christmas, I was walking around Bed, Bath & Beyond & they had a line going down a whole aisle.  I looked to find what was going on, only to see there was a Keurig machine & they were fixing people cups of coffee, teas or hot chocolates... right there in the middle of the store.

I picked me up some hot chocolate & handed the lady my cup.  In a few minutes, I was walking away with my hot, steaming cup... but my mind was stuck back with that machine.

I've been wanting one ever since.

Then I got a 30% off at Kohls & the Keurig's were on sale... was this a sign from my beverage guardian angel?  The same one who is trying to sway me from all things Diet Coke?

So I post a question on Facebook.... "Keurig?  Yes or no?" ....

My phone went off like it was being shot up... instant reactions... & a resounding YES!

The world has spoken... & I listened... I went & ordered my Keurig right then and there.

Here's my new baby....

So now, I need the low-down on all things Keurig.

What are the best drinks?  I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do love teas & hot chocolates.  I already got a hint about the Chai Tea which I have a new found love for.
Where can you get the cups for the cheapest price?
What are some tips on the machine?  Anything I need to know?

If you all are like my Facebook friends, then I know y'all got one too - so spill the info on it...

My Beverage Guardian Angel thanks you :)

Weekend Roundup

* My goal going to bed on Friday was just to sleep... I havent been able to "sleep in" for quite a few weekends, so I had a stern talking with the dogs to not wake me up... & then that same talk with Ricky... & I was ready to snooze away...

*... I woke up Saturday morning at 5:30 am... DANG IT!!!!

* I had a Senior Portrait Session on Saturday morning.  I hadnt ever done an early morning session because I like the look of a setting sun towards the end of a session... so this was a new experience.  But this young lady had to be at work in the afternoon & she was actually scheduled for the next weekend, but we had a beautiful day & next week is a 10k I'm running, so it just made it easier on me... plus, she was excited to do pictures.

Look how beautiful this young lady is... red heads?  You know I love them

It was so cool that her dad came with her on the session.  Usually its moms, but her & her dad had a fantastic relationship...  & he was Mr. Helpful.  He was carrying my supplies for me, using my reflectors however I needed him to... I think I need more dad's to come along.

* So not only did I walk 2.50 miles in doing the Senior Session (yes, I wear my pedometer 24/7... I may move my legs while I sleep & I want to count those calories... it is Girl Scout Cookie season afterall) ... but it was such a pretty day, I went out & ran 6.20 miles... a 10K... gearing up for the 10K I have this Saturday.  Beautiful days just inspire me to stay on the road... even with burning, neuropathic feet (boo!)

* I took my shower when I got done running & left my hair up in a towel until I went to bed.  I woke up around 2 am shivering... my hair was STILL damp... that's cold in the middle of the night!  So I wrapped it back up in a towel so I wouldnt feel it... let me tell you.  CRAZY HAIR doesnt even describe my look when I woke up on Sunday.  Praise the Lord for straightening irons.  They truly are like magic wands.

* TIME CHANGE!!!!  ... it will take me at least a week to get used to the adjustment.  Always bothers me, whether we Spring Forward or Fall back... it all just means my internal clock is messed up!

* STUPID WEATHERMAN!!!!!.... I had a Family Portrait Session scheduled for Sunday.  But earlier in the week, the weather forecast said it would rain on Sunday.  Even Weather.com said showers ALL DAY.  So we went ahead & canceled... & guess what?  It was the most beautiful day of the year!!! Warm, in the 70's, sunny - absolutely PERFECT!  I was so angry that the appointment was canceled...

I did enjoy sitting on the back porch with my dogs & my Kindle though...

* I may have to boycott Facebook during the NCAA Tournament time.  I cant stand it.  I know I live in "Basketball Country" - people are VERY passionate about B-Ball here.  I know some of you, its Football.. here's its all about the hoops.  And you either "bleed Blue" for the Univeristy of Kentucky - or you're a Cardinal for the University of Louisville.  Ricky BLEEDS BLUE!!! Through & through... so UL didnt have a great season at all.. but Ricky isnt the type of person who says anything, makes comments, rubs it in.  But UK lost their first game in like 24 games in a row & the messages started rolling in to him... texts, phone calls, Facebook comments.  Really?  I dont even care about basketball & dont even watch it (not "allowed" to watch it is key since I'm bad luck) but really?  Are people 5 yrs old?  Sports justs brings out the worst in people... cant we all just get along? ...

* I find myself so excited for Sunday nights ... ONCE UPON A TIME... so yes, I too am like a 5 yr old.  Give me my fairy tales :)

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Friday... & thankful this Friday is a lot calmer then last Friday.  Cant believe one week ago is when the tornados came through... seems longer...

But its a new week... life keeps going on... so we'll keep on Fragging...

*****

We have trees in bloom here!!! Spring is coming!!!  I dont think its supposed to be this early, but that's OK - I'm happy about it.

Not to happy about the bugs we're already seeing.  We had our first fly of the year flying around our kitchen.  In our house though, a fly is a perfect toy because the dogs will chase it down until it becomes a tasty treat for one of them.

I may be vegetarian, my dogs, not so much.

*****

That Weight Watchers commercial with Jennifer Hudson singing with herself (the clip from American Idol where she wore that dress that her neighbor made for her) - its just creepy.  Dont know why but everytime it comes on, I make a weird face while watching it...

*****

This is my niece Sophia's paper from school... Look where the teacher said they're having a quiz... she wrote NO! haha! My brother asked her why she wrote that & she said she didnt want a quiz....

Who does? ... she may go into politics when she grows up.  Speaking up for the ones who wont speak up. :)

*****

Currently reading, "I am Second"... fantastic book...

but it feels so funny because its an ACTUAL book.  I'm reviewing it for Amazon.  But it just shows how addicted I am to my Kindle now.

..You know you're lazy when you complain about having to turn an actual page...

*****

SPAT OF THE WEEK:  ... just wait for it... - so Monday, I was busy & then had to run to the grocery.  I called Ricky & asked him if I could just pick up Penn Station instead of cooking when I got home.  He had no problem with that.  So I'm out loading up my car with the groceries & all of a sudden, a car comes up behind me - I mean, LITERALLY behind me - like touching me & HONKS!!!! It was Ricky... I seriously JUMPED, throwing the bag of groceries - it scared me THAT bad!!!

... but that's not even the moment of the week...

so we go into Penn Station & decide to eat there.  They lost our order so we were in there for quite awhile.  Probably about 30 minutes, at least.  As we're leaving to go home, Ricky cant find his keys.

... this isnt even the moment either....

We search for the keys where we were sitting.  Nope, not there.
Then it hit Ricky... he runs out to his car.
IT'S RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He left his car running the whole time we were inside.  With the DOOR UNLOCKED!!!!
Someone could have easily just got in the car & drove off.
And the car wasnt in our view while we ate.
I couldnt believe he did that.
While not much of a "spat" happened - we actually laughed about it - this is just a great place for me to "tattle" on Ricky - so there you go.

*****

Here's the latest picture of my grandbabies... dont they look SO BIG?????
And so darn cute!!!!

*****

I left my cell phone at home yesterday & I felt like I was missing a body part all day long.  That's kinda messed up really...

*****

Anyone watching GCB?  I love Kristin Chenoweth. Everything about her! Hope the series makes it just because of her. (& Annie Potts)

*****

So they said that Coke & Pepsi had to change their carmel coloring or put a "Cancer Warning" on their bottles/cans... WHOOOO... that's scary!

*****

Well, hope you all have a Fantastic Friday... I'm off to have a Diet Coke! KIDDING! ... kinda... maybe...

Plans...

Its so funny the plans we lay out for ourselves.

We start young too.

I found my Senior Memories book & it had a place on "Where will you be in 5 years?" & "Where will you be in 10 years?"

I had to laugh at my answers...

5 years?  My plans were to "be in my first year at Pharmacy school, still be best friends with all my friends, dating a black-haired, dark complexion, muscular guy".

Yes - I wanted to be a Pharmacist in high school... & yes, the comment about a black haired, dark complexion just makes me laugh so hard.

I married a red haired, faired skin, tiny little fire pistol of a guy.  LONNNNGGGG ways away from what I thought I'd marry.  I also love that I had that as a laid out plan of exactly who I'd marry.

10 years?  I wrote that I would have "graduated Pharmacy school, being a RICH Pharmacist, married to that black-haired, dark complexion guy, have 2 kids, living in a BIG house with lots of land, with horses"

...oh, doesnt that sound like the life?

Rich - beautiful husband - which means of course, beautiful kids - with a beautiful house - with beautiful horses...

The dreams of a teenager...

But we have plans of what we want to do with our lives...

And most of the time, those plans dont work out anything like we thought it would.

I thought of that when I was reading my devotional the other day.  This line stood out to me ... & this devotional is based on letters from God to you daily:

"In my grace child, I sometimes wreck your plans to keep you dependent on me.  You can reach heaven, but not by your own efforts.  Trust mine instead"

He sometimes wreck your plans?

Doesnt sound very fair, does it?

Until we remember its God.. & His ways are so much better then ours...

His plans are so much wiser...

His vision of the whole road we go down is so much broader then our little small view of the path we're on...

& while my life isnt the life I thought it would be, I know that God has wrecked some plans to put me where He wants me to be...

so Lord, wreck away any plans of mine... let me be dependent on you & you alone...

Hodgepodge

Hodgepodge Day!!!!  Click the button below & you too can Hodgepodge right along...

1. Did March come in like a lion or was it something less ferocious in your neck of the woods?

March 2nd is when Hell was Unleashed around here.. the tornados of Henryville, Pekin & Maryville... total devestation.  And then on Monday, we had 6 inches of snow at my house... & then yesterday was 68 degrees.  "In like a lion"?  More like Mother Nature is on a hormone roller coaster!!!

2. Speaking of lions, which one's your film favorite...The Cowardly Lion (Wizard of Oz), Mufasa (The Lion King), Elsa (Born Free), or Alex (Madagascar)? You may notice I left Aslan off the list. Including him would have made this question way too easy for many of you.

You'd think the easy answer for me would be to go with Disney & Mufasa.  But I cant handle "The Lion King" - it breaks my heart.  Why does Disney have to be so sad sometimes?  ... And for my momma, who lives & breaths "Wizard of Oz", I GOTTA go with The Cowardly Lion.  He's just too cute... & he sings & dances... & the best part?  Beauty & the Beast gives a shout out to him!  Must make him pretty special!

3
. What's your favorite spot from which to view the sunrise or sunset?

The coolest way I've ever seen the sunrise was when I was running a half marathon.  They didnt realize the time change would happen that weekend so it was dark when we started... but running while the sun was coming up was so beautiful.  And I usually do my ordinary runs when the sun is setting... I guess watching the sun rise or set during running is just a way of saying I like to be distracted from the actual pain of running :)

4. To what extent is knowledge power and to what extent is truth power? What's the difference?

This is a deep & tough question (Cant wait to see everyone else's answer on this)... I'll just give this answer:  With great power comes great responsibility.

(Oh yeeeaaaahhhh baby.... My Spiderman loving husband will be so proud of me for working that in this answer!... even if it may not even make sense really)

5. What's something peculiar you've seen recently?

Just running a race this past Saturday - that's where you will always see something peculiar.  The top 3:
  1.  A lady probably in her 60's wearing a rainbow tutu while running... I'll give her mad props though - she totally left me in her rainbow tutu dust!  FAST!!
  2.  A kid running in the race with his dad wearing the "toed" running shoes - you've seen them, right?  The shoes that are like toed socks?  I didnt know they made them that small. I mean the kid was like 7 yrs old.  And the soles of these things were BLACK so he must run a lot with his dad
  3. A guy in army gear wearing a full loaded backpack in honor of his army brothers... & again, this guy left me in his army dust with the additional 50 lbs on his back. I mark this as peculiar because it definitely drew attention... amazing attention of awe!

6. Bottled water...your thoughts?

Love it... especially with Diet Coke added in.

7.  What's your strongest sense?

Does having a loud voice count?  If not, I'll go with smelling.  I'm super sensitive with smells.  And I've always had a tendancy to just pick up random things & smell it.  A stapler?  Why yes, I'll smell it.  Dont ask me why.... when I say random, I meant it.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

The race pictures are in from my run on Saturday.  Holy cow... this is it... I've learned my lesson.  I will now always wear my bib on my back or hide my number.  The latest picture?  HORRID... I honestly look like a blob in the middle of fit people.  Its so freaking depressing...
