Mother's Day isnt easy for everyone....

There are posts everywhere in Blog-World on Mother's Day right now...  posts of rainbows & butterflies & glitter & Unicorns...

And while I do have the most awesome momma EVER!!!!... I mean EVER... I just wanted to post this today for those struggling with Mother's Day coming up.  I have so many bloggy-friends that I read daily that are struggling with the day... I think its so easy to forget how hard Mother's Day can be for women in a world where other women look at you with 3 heads if you dont have children....

So this post is for those who have lost a child... through a passing after the baby was born from illness or sickness, or even the cruel disease of SIDS... or through miscarriage, before getting to even hold that little one... & even for those who live with the regret of abortion & the decision they made.... loss is loss... its all painful & hurts...

& even those suffering from infertility that still feels the hole of "loss" in their life...

...this poem is pretty powerful ... And it's in honor of all the women who have any of these losses...

My shoes...

I am wearing these shoes..

They are ugly...uncomfortable...

I hate my shoes.

Each day I wear them & each day I wish I had another pair.

Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step.... Yet, I continue to wear them

I get funny looks wearing these shoes.  They are looks of sympathy.

I can tell in other's eyes that they are glad they are MY shoes & not theirs...

They never talk about my shoes.

To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable.

To truly understand these shoes, you must walk in them.
But once you put them on, you can never take them off.

I now realize that I am not the only one who wears these shoes.  There are many pairs in this world.

Some woman are like me & ache daily as they try to walk in them.

Some have learned to walk in them so that they dont quite hurt so much.

Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think about how much they hurt.

No woman deserves to wear these shoes.

Yet, because of these shoes, I am a stronger woman....
These shoes have given me the strength to face anything....
They have made me who I am.

I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has loss in her life....

Thank you for posting this. It is so true, and so easy to forget.

And the same goes for men who long to be fathers, as well! We can't forget them, too! :)

I had two miscarriages myself, so I can definitely relate to this powerful poem. It's a pain you never quite forget. I know it will touch the hearts of many. THANK YOU, sweet friend!

wonderful poem that can represent many types of situations we deal with everyday, not just loss. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for posting this today. Some very dear friends of ours are waiting for their birth mother to decide if she is going to parent her newborn or relinquish her parental rights. She will be leaving the hospital with a baby in her arms or placing her with our friends to become their daughter on Mother's Day of all days.

My heart breaks for this young woman and all she is facing. It also breaks for my friend because I know her pain all too well. The desire to become a mother and the knowledge that someone's heart must first break in order that we may be given the chance and gift to be called, "Mom."

This is a great post. Those women who have lost children or are unable to have children are often forgotten.

Sometimes they are shoes nobody sees:) How many women grieve and there is no one to share that grief with. I understand that!
